If Tony does not want his RomiChess account used then I will open one.

Also I am very close to having a new RomiChess ready.
OK, cool. Just make sure you give me account info, program, instructions, whatever a couple days before the tourney so I can do a test run. If you want to send me updates of program or learning file an hour the tourney before that is fine as long as I have something tested to fall back on.

Thanks,

I see that it is on Nov 8th. That should give me enough time!
Mike, I do not have a problem with someone else using the Romi account provided that it is someone that I have heard of. I would gladly send you the password..Let's see if I can find a decent computer before the tournament.. It looks like Ted will be in Alabama, and he is taking his Q6700, I guess he could operate Romi as well. Beats a core 2 anyday, right?
Okay, here is the deal. I had only planned on being a spectator and offered my Q6700 because I thought Tony was going to be there. I have no problem operating RomiChess, however you should know in advance that I will arrive early on the morning of November 8th. I should get there at about 6 AM, which should be more than enough time to setup if needed. My room for that night has already been booked, so no problem there as well.

Now if you decide that you want me to operate RomiChess, then I would like for someone to walk me thru in advance the setup that will be needed, as this will be my 1st time doing something like this ever. Other than that, I think I can download and install any software needed in advance.

Lastly I have a few questions. Will there be a wireless setup there or will I need to bring a CAT 5 cable? Also how will security be handled? Meaning will I need to pack my Computer up at the end of the day and then bring it back to finish the event or can I leave it there at the site? Either way it really does not matter to me, I just want to know in advance.
Okay, this is getting complicated and I am too busy trying to convince my mom that I am not her sister and that I am her son. "No I do not want to try that blouse on and I definitly have no need for that purse!" :?

Anyway, Sam offered first and I accepted. However, if Sam was only offering as a favor and would really rather have someone else be Romi's operator then Ted or a hardware improved Tony would be Okay with me. Thanks, in advance, to whom ever will operate Romi. :D

Well, I had planned to attend this one at the site, but my mom's dementia has made that impossible. :(

I only offered as a favor, and would be delighted if someone else does it. And if that means having to face off against a Romi backed by superior hardware...well bring it on!

Well Sam, then you will be off the hook as soon as Ted, Tony or a computer operator from NORAD  confirms that they will operate Romi!

There was excellent wireless last year, but I always bring cat5 as a
back up, so you should too. Last year we put the computers on a cart
and locked them in Bob's office. I would expect something similar this year.

Let me make some calls and see what I can do about the hardware. What if Romi runs on a laptop? It is an Intel Celeron M, but faster than my desktop.

I would like to see Romi run on at least an AMD 3400+, but if the laptop comes close then that is okay. Your in charge Tony!

I might just suck up and buy a prebuilt emachine for 650 bucks (Q6600).. Now hurry up and work on an SMP version of Romi even if it doesnt scale well, a 50% speedup should do enough to get 1 spot higher. I wish to get a top 15 finish.
