Please move the low level Chess Championship out of here

Post by kgburcham »

I do not enjoy watching GM and SuperGM? tournaments.
I enjoy blindfold play and GM vs 20 opponents.
I have been collecting GM blunders for the last 4 years from tournaments.
Very few program challenging test positions from these so called high rated games.

How many program challenging test positions have you found from the Kramnik/Anand Match?

This will only get worse as the gap increases between humans and programs. I consider these games low level compared to program play.

I think these low level human matches should be moved out of this program forum. The games 8 and 9 are taking up the front page. The low level dedicateds and low level human play should not be allowed in this high level computer chess forum.

"Low level Play" is quite an exaggeration considering:

Kramnik made blunder when in time trouble.

Anand didn't make mucho blunders.

Also, there are lots of interesting positional play especially in the start, computer engines could be tested.

Like I said before, words are easy. Take your programs and your strong pc and study the games. When you find positions that challenge todays programs post them. You replied but you would not post a position you refer to. Better yet, since you have had so much energy posting about these games how about posting 5 or 10 positions that challenge todays programs on fast hardware.

Well, here's one for the start:

Bright (~3000 elo) thinks c5 is inferior, and am sure many engines other than Rybka consider c5 with contempt and/or are too materialistic. when Rybka latest version as posted in chessOk thinks c5 is better.

Ted show me something other than low level analysis that has been posted. I am waiting.
Ted show me what you consider high level program analysis that has been posted about these low level games and I will check it out. I am waiting.

As far as me reading these posts, I do not. I just check the games for stupid 1500 level blunders and collect them. These amazing 3000 level programs on fast hardware are making it more difficult to appreciate GM play. I appreciate 1800 vs 1800 play, I appreciate 2000 vs 2000 play and I enjoy these level of games. I just dont have the patience for humans that are supposed to be the highest level 2600 to 2850 and collect high dollars for low level play. Give me a good 2000 level game that plays for the win.

The point is there is nothing wrong with the WCC2008 post in this area. I think you know and understand that. I really don't care what you think is low or high level chess.

PS: If just one "Mod" {General Topics} here asks me to stop these post, then I will.

2. Dedicateds belong here.

I do not agree with your point that these games dont belong here. But i DO AGREE, at least from my perspective, that these games are often times boring in the sense that was said of Fischer: "Only the young breed of fearless fighters ever have the chance of destroying the Fischer myth. The old- fashioned way, heavy with security devices, and the incessant tiptoeing in the shallow waters of draws- offers no hope against Fischer." This quote i think of many times when i see so many boring drawn games at this high level of play. As Fischer said when once asked how he got so good, he replied it was when he realized you could play for a win with the black pieces. The GMs of today havent figured that out yet.

might be a bit hard for KGB to figure that out Graham
after all for years he has always had trouble reading plain English let alone manipulating the forum software

forum description that appears here:
Computer Chess Club: General Topics

actually if anything is off topic here its this entire thread which really needs to be moderated away into oblivion.. tossed back to the fiery depths of the underworld from whence it came

Have a nice day regards
