K-K match 1984
http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chess.pl?tid=55015
after 11 games Karpov lead 4-0 with 7 Draws..even more dominating then this match
if this were a twelve game match it would be Karpov waving to Kaspy saying..
CYA.. have a nice day regards

It's so true! However, I believe that match went on so long that Karpov called it off due to exhuastion!Steve B wrote:K-K match 1984

Finally they worked out a second match and Kasparov won.
Out of all the Match players I think Karpov in his prime was the toughest of all!
We'll never know if Fischer could have held the Crown or not in 1975?
It wasn't meant to be Regards,

Yes, sad it was only 12 games...all indications are the 2nd 12 would have been much more exciting
. Anyway, congrats to Anand, a longtime favorite player of mine.

Ted,
CCC members guessed it right, majority of them voted Anand to win when you first conducted a poll, and where as Rybka forum on the other hand guessed it totally wrong, they thought Kramnik was gonna win, blimey!

Re: World Chess Championship (Game 11)
Interestingly...
Anand played for the WC 13 years ago and in that match got shellacked by Kaspy 4-1 with 13 draws
Anand was leading the match after 9 games 1-0 with 8 draws
had it been only 12 Anand might have played differently ..perhaps coasting to a win needing to only split the points from the remaining three games to win the match
Tragically that match was played atop the World Trade Center
Sad Regards
Steve

Re: World Chess Championship (Game 11)
Kramnik succeeded in not letting it be a crush.
It is more like a bad patch of losing 3 games, to the spectator, and possible WAS.
So I think it is very good that he won atleast one, and he was unbeaten in the last few games.
He still has a face, imho.
A unifide world champion was also long awaited.
So congrats to Anand too!
