Come Back Kasparov

Post by FWCC »

It's time for Kasparov to return to professional chess. It would be nice to see a match between Kasparov and Anand as Anand is much stronger than he was in 1995.Kasparov should come back to liven things up a bit as Anand's win over Kramnik seemed, shall I say not so exciting. The chess world needs another Kasparov injection,so I say COME BACK KASPAROV!

Kasparov has been in retirement for sometime and might have lost his edge. He lost his WC to Kramnik and Anand beat Kramik, so there is no need for a Kasparov comeback.

I never considered kramnik as a real world champion because he lost against shirov.

The choice of Kramnik to play against kasparov was clearly bad choice
because it was based on the positive record of kramnik against kasparov and not based on his results in matches.

If somebody can beat the world champion in a match but cannot beat weaker players then this player has no moral right to consider himself as the world champion.

If Kasparov did return, my money is on Kasparov. Sadly there's no indication that Kasparov will return.

You can see in his rating chart that his rating was clearly declining a couple of years before his retirement http://ratings.fide.com/id.phtml?event=4100018. Perhaps this was the reason he retired, he understood he would not be no 1 for long. Three years later, I don't think he could compete with Anand.

He was a giant among giants, he could come back and win.

After which he could retire in peace. Kramnik and the F.I.D.E. denied him that!

Kasparov would put a lot of excitment back in the world of chess. A Kasparov vs. Anand match would create huge interest.

Agreed, but I doubt he would come out of retirement to play chess again.

Alternative is Carlsen vs Anand.

I don't think it's all that easy for someone at his level to not come out and play chess again (on stage).

Kasparov didn't seem to be so highly motivated any more. Humans are humans. They can go almost from one extreme to another, depending on how they feel (or are motivated). Kasparov is not an exception to this.

Anand probably has a low endurance level (seems he is more the "genius" type). He just has enough patience to cover his genius, but maybe not enough to keep up a fight). He admitted in the link posted above, in this thread, that he was very very exhuasted. It was known from years ago, that he was greatest in speed chess, and in tournament he is also probably stronger. He may have been lucky that this match was only a 12 game one. The shortest ever in a world championship.

So, perhaps Kasparov could possibly win.
