Compare Deep Fritz GM deluxe with Fritz 2007

Post by stwils »

I am looking at Amazon. Deep Fritz sells for $9.96 and came out in 2006, and Fritz Chess sells for $13.99 and came out in 2007 (supposedly Fritz 10)

Have any of you used either of these? And what do you hear about their differences? Pros and cons.

Either price sounds good to me, but I was wondering which "Fritz" is better.

Thanks.

Do any of the Fritz programs come with a manual?

I recently bought a 'budget' version of Fritz 11 which came on DVD and included a proper printed manual, however the reason it was cheap was that it didn't include the 12 month access to playchess.com, which was why is was £16 rather than the usual £35-40. However I complained about this and ChessBase gave me 6 months free access and the publisher gave me 12 months free access (they sent me Fritz 10 which had the necessary serial number).

Come to think of it, if you're in the UK Susan then I will gladly send Fritz 10 along as I don't require it, having made my point about being misled by ChessBase.

Thanks Andy for offering to send me your Fritz 10. However I am the US.

I have no idea whether the Fritz (2007) (I think Fritz 10) at Amazon comes with a manual. The literature about the game doesn't mention it. But it comes in a box, which hopefully means there is more in there than the "jewel case."

Anyway, I will keep checking a bit but I think I will order that one. Amazon has so many it is hard to tell which one is which!

Thanks for your reply.

I am sure it would come with a manual, but the program has help, and it's not that complicated. I would get the cheapest one you can, as if you're a beginner, it will tear you apart with ease.

Cheers,
Andy

I am only paying $13.99 for this Fritz which is just called Fritz Chess. But I checked and it came out in 2007 and is in a box so hopefully it will have a manual and be Fritz 10.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think there's such thing as "Fritz Chess", It would usually be "Chessbase Fritz 10" or just "Fritz 10". You bought "Fritz & Chesster"?

It's from viva media, Now I think that's the original Fritz...I had Fritz 8 from Viva Media. Though it wouldn't come with a free playchess serial but it's cheaper relative to how much it was being sold on Chessbase, but usually it would be released much later.
