I bought Deep Fritz GM about a year ago.
It is Deep Fritz 8 and it came with a 6 month membership to playchess.com
I don't recall if it came with the manual. The help system should
be sufficient for your needs.

Probably better getting Fritz 10 - if that is what the other on is.
The single proc Fritz 10 is stronger than dual Fritz 8 (IIRC).
Also, you are better off with the Fritz 10 GUI.

Well, it should arrive in the mail in a few days. Then we will see what it really is! I hope for the best.

It appears to be fritz 10 - see the customer reviews
http://www.amazon.com/review/product/B0 ... ewpoints=1

It should be a good buy as many consider fritz 10 a better analysing enginge than fritz 11 :)

Fritz for Fun 5 comes in another commercial package sold by ChesssBase,I can't recall the name of the package right now but I do remember that it's a light edition without DVDs and database 8-)

And it sells for $41 new! My Fritz was $13.99. I'd like to know what Fritz for Fun really is.

There were no customer reviews on Amazon. Didn't it have some German in the title?

My order from Amazon for "Fritz Chess" $13.99 arrived today. And it IS Fritz 10 with the big red X on the box. And it comes with a manual and 30 days to play on Playchess.com.

I am very happy I ordered this. The interface is nice and appealing.

I played my first game against Fritz (as a friend or hobbyist) and all the little lines and arrows appeared showing me what was threatened etc. I must say Fritz talked the whole time and was very jolly! He beat me, but I could tell he was not beating me as soon as he could. It was really kind of fun.

I have only begun to see what this Fritz software has to offer. Huge database, opening book with 1 million positions, coach and help functions that explain all moves (according to the manual) and all kinds of analysis available.

At this point in my chess development, I will not be able to use half of what Fritz offers, but I am glad I ordered it. It is exactly what I was hoping for and more.

Did you try it on "Friend Mode"? I think it takes a couple of games to match your level. :)
