The release Jim Ablett just made includes crafty.hlp.
Seriously, what is this help file for? Does it just contain the information that is contained in the Crafty read me file? When I click on the .hlp file I always get a this is not a Windows help file or the file is corrupt message. I get that message even with the .hlp file that comes in the Crafty source zip file.
O.K., I see now that the .hlp file needs to be in the same folder as the crafty.exe and in the exe's console window, typing "help" allows a portion of the help file to be read there.
Is it just me, or is there a physical reason why I can't play Crafty 22.4 (Peter Skinner's build) as a UCI engine in my ChessBase Shredder? It just refuses to load.

Crafty is a Winboard engine and not an UCI.
Has this changed and it is also an UCI engine with the 22.4 version? I don't think so although someone can confirm this.
But i'm sure the root of your problems is that it does not support UCI protocol.

YES! He replied.....
