interesting pawn race position

Post by jdart »

From a recent online game:

[d] 8/8/5p1k/1p1pp2P/pP3PK1/P1P5/8/8 b - f3

d4 wins. Arasan 11.1 has trouble with this (thinks it's only a draw). 10.4 solves it, although it takes a while (it only switches to d4 at ply 19). 10.4 has some pawn race code that is not currently in the 11.0 tree.

The commercials and Crafty 21.x seem to have no difficulty here.

Gaviota sticks to d4 in just under 2 seconds, ply 10. (AMD 2.4Ghz)
The score is not great but the PVs shown seem to be correct.

Where'd you get the Ruger .22 target pistol? I've had one for 25 years or so. All it needed when I bought it was some trigger work to eliminate the "creep"...

Gemtech sells.
I like the old German shape.
All of the old WWII movies had the German officers holding these. (I know you know this). The Oasis has an internally silenced barrel.
Only a click at the firing range, for the girls to get better at target and feel more comfortable with loaded weapon.
I do not have one yet. Has to have class 3 tax stamp, $200. Barrel is about $600, and then the gun is about $400. So total will be about $1200 to own.
