Any engine finds Nxg5! in this position?

Post by Uri »

Nxg5 is the best move in this position because it destroys black's kingside and keeps the knight pinned to the queen.

Of the three engines I tested on this position, Deep Fritz 11 had the fastest solve time.

Stockfish 1.2 (Default) JA solves this one rather quickly at the 1 minute 17 second mark and sticks with Nxg5 on my "lowly" athlon X2 4400 with 512MB hash.

If I was to play a strong chess engine,I will never ever play this move because it will open a huge opportunity for tactical fireworks and me loosing the encounter almost for sure....
I'll keep it simple as possible trying to lead the opponent to a quite endgame where I have more chances....

Amusing, that's how I use to take computers out, years ago.

I'd still go for it if a computer would make such a mistake.

With all due respect,on a decent hardware and against a top rated engine, you'll put yourself in the middle of a tactical storm and you won't be happy, believe me....
I do believe you though regarding the past meaning the waeker then hardware....
