Can wooden dedicated boards be restored??

Post by Jaimes Conda »

A business friend of mine has a Saitek Renaissance board for sale at a very good price. The electroniques work perfectly. LED etc.

The board however needs attention. Big round spots on the squares and the boarder has marks on it.

Although it functions perfectly I find it aesthetically displeasing.

Can this board be restored without damaging the electronics?

Hoping : Jaimes

well that could depend on the amount of damage the board has sustained Jaimes
the board is made of fairly thick wood and i can't imagine any chemical solvents actually hurting the electronics inside
while the board does work with reed switches i would just insure that nothing is used that can actually burn through wood
i would say that just as long as the work performed is mindful of the delicate electronics inside..a fairly decent restoration could take place

Jaimes, the damage to the playing surface on the squares sounds like
the spots that appear on the home squares for the pieces. It happens
when the board is left in it's setup position in someone's lounge room,
for long periods. I doubt anything can be done. Regarding other minor
damage, eg, scratches, they can be disguised somewhat with varnish.
The best advice we can give you is to simply buy the game and
accept and enjoy it. You say it's a good price, so when you tire of it
you can maybe make a profit on ebay.
all the best

I am sorry to say that with rising costs and in the current financial climate although we have the technology to rebuild you making you stronger and faster. The cost is no longer $6 Million but more like $600 Million and the plan has been rejected b the Elders.

Blincoe will not be Bionic regards
