Looking for a tool to generate a word document of problems

Post by Kempelen »

Hi,

I have a Sony PRS505 ebook reader from two months ago, and are very happy with it. Now I am considering making a chess problems eBook from collections of EPD and PGN problems files, with its solutions. Does anybody knows any tool than can run in batch to generate all image diagrams and text solucions? or any tool which can do that exporting to a word document? any similar idea?

Other solution is doing that by hand one to one, but that can be a never-ending task...

thanks,

I think it supports EPD as well as FEN. Not sure if it is exactly what you want although.

You could look at chesstask, with capabilities to export to PDF (through LaTeX), or HTML.

One example PDF output is here: http://chesstask.sourceforge.net/exampl ... cexamp.pdf, although there are other styles available.

I think it can handle what you need, look also here: http://chesstask.sourceforge.net/manual/manual-14.html.

Hi Ted,

I have found a method to create eBooks of problems. I am developing a tool similar to ChessTask and think it will be ready in a week or so. When I finish it I will give you to try.

It is easy to make a tactical problem eBook. It is only needed to have wac.epd or 1001 win and sacs epd, or the Polgar ones. But in between I would like to make and eBook similar to:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-Chess-E ... 492&sr=8-1
This is one of the best paper book I have on problems. It has problems of every nature: tactical, strategy, endgames, traps, openings moves, defense, counterattack.... etc. I would like to make an eBook like that. It would be nice to collect positions. Do you have pgn, cbh or epd files for differets kind of chess thematics like in that book? I would be glad if you send me......

Okay, no problem just PM me when you are ready to test. By the way that book you showed me is already in kindle format. $12.21 paperback cost vs. $7.99 ebook (Kindle) version.

For anyone interested. Here is a list of Kindle Chess books to date:

Hi Ted (and others)

I have finished the tool which generates eBooks. I want you to test it before releasing it. Any feedback would be wellcome. Also, if you have non-tactical problems (strategy, counterplay, defense....etc) with quality solutions send them to me, please....
