Hello, we have submitted Shredder Chess for the iPhone a few days ago to Apple. Now it is up to Apple how long they need to add it to their App Store. It should only take a few more days. Best regards Stefan Meyer-Kahlen

Not all games will run on all iPod models. Most iPod applications getting press are targeted towards the iPod Touch and the iPhone. Neither has a hard drive.

I hope it is alot cheaper than the Shredder Mobile at 39 Euro.It seems that the Euro has skyrocketed in price compared to my native NZ dollars.Sean Evans wrote:The author of Shredder returned my email query and stated the following:

Re: iPod and computer chess
I went ahead and tried The Shredder app. it's $9.95 in the US. The interface is nice. Shredder does not support time controls. It uses Strength levels. It claims the highest level is 2400 which seems optimistic to me. It seems to have about the same strength as Glaurung, but without being able to set equal levels, it is hard to tell.

Re: iPod and computer chess
As I wrote in an e-mail to you a few minutes ago, I am almost 100% sure Shredder is significantly stronger at the moment. Glaurung's problem is that it's board representation is extremely inefficient on the ARM CPU. I hope that the non-bitboard rewrite of Glaurung I plan to do later this spring will give Shredder a run for the money (in case somebody wonders, this rewrite is of course not the "exciting plans" I hinted about earlier in this thread).krazyken wrote:I went ahead and tried The Shredder app. it's $9.95 in the US. It seems to have about the same strength as Glaurung, but without being able to set equal levels, it is hard to tell.
Even today, however, I think Glaurung has a superior strength/price ratio.

How much time per move is 2400 ELO ?krazyken wrote:I went ahead and tried The Shredder app. it's $9.95 in the US. The interface is nice. Shredder does not support time controls. How did you play Shredder against Glaurang, with two identical iPods?
