This has been an issue for years. Not everyone chooses to participate. Some don't want to lose to Rybka. Some of us look forward to the chance to play it. All depends on your outlook.
Personally, I plan on competing as long as I am physically/mentally able, whether I expect to win or not has nothing to do with the decision. CCT events have no expense associated making them attractive to me. Others seem to have different opinions... different strokes for different folks...

Now that the rules were changed to handicap the cluster programs (Jonny, Sjeng, Toga, Rybka), sure!
Not only clusters. I've run a bit on a 4-socket box that would be nice to use as well, but it unfortunately has 16 cores which is 8 more than the rules allow...
