25. March.2009
this tour was planed from the beginning of the top8 series, to see how good each engine scales on 8cpu:
Top8 - 8 cpu
8 rounds (224 games)
engines if possible 64bit und 8 cpus
1024MB hashtables
ponder OFF
10 moves book
TB engine : 5 men, shredderbases, bitbases
Fritz 10 GUI
time control 125Min +30Sek / game (longer tc to compensate the ponder OFF mode a little)
PC Intel Xeon 5365 (8 x 3,0GHz)
engines:
Rybka 3
Naum 4
Deep Fritz 11
Shredder Bonn
Deep Sjeng WM 2008
Hiarcs 12.1 with setting "optimistic search off"
Zappa Mex II
ClusterToga
I will start live games when some games are done.
This 8cpu tour will be verry interesting !!

1. Rybka3 does not know how to lose a game
2. Naum4 is finally waking up from a deep sleep.
3. I miss BigLion among Top8.
Thanks for a great tournament.
Matthias.
