DOS chess program downloads?

Post by Larry »

Hi all, I came across a Novag Universal chess board the other day,
and so far all I have to play it with is a Novag Sapphire and my
Chess Genius for DOS. Included with the set is drivers on a floppy
disc for Fritz versions 1, 2 and 3, Rebel 7 and the Kittinger
software program called 'WChess'. However, I can't find any of these
anywhere.
Could anyone here please point me in the direction of any of the
above programs?
Also, it seems the Universal chess board does not take windows programs.
Am I wrong here?
Any other information or relevant links would be much appreciated.
regards to all

Fritz 1, 2 and 2.51

Rebel 7

I have WChess somewhere here as well. You should also try to look for Power Chess which is WChess under another name.

No idea about your Universal Board question although.

:)

Just kidding.....

What is your email address Larry?

Have you tried Arena? It should be usable with the Novag UCB (haven't tried it myself...)

Hi Larry !

From here

http://vetusware.com/download/Chessmast ... 0/?id=3625

you can download ChessMaster 2000/2100/3000 for DOS.
All are abandonware. They are also a CM 3000 version for Windows 3.1 ( works well under Windows XP ) & Chessmaster 4000 ( the first CM with Johan de Koning engine -The King )- also for Windows 3.1

Chessmaster 3000 DOS is a superb game.Try please War Room like environment ! The engine is a Dave Kittinger masterpiece ( around 1850 ELO FIDE-2050 ELO USCF )-good for training ! Has also : rate my play, 150 legendary games , tutorials, personalities and many more !
Also Chessmaster 2100 is a good one !

And....for a such panegyrical post toward Chessmaster 3000 the named Hollister- the mod of Chessmaster 11 forum- deleted my last post on this forum ! Deh.....money,money ......deform a lot of people !

Enjoy !

Regards,
Silvian

Hi Larry
not really the question you asked but it should be noted that the Novag UCB when sold with the Sapphire II was marketed as the "Sapphire II Deluxe"
it can also be used with the Super Vip and Sapphire I
in addition i believe its possible to use the UCB with the Star Sapphire although i never actually used them together

UCB Regards

Franz Huber's site is the best. Download the Chess DOS Virtual machine and have over 220 programs available to you, running under either DOSBox-X or Qemu. https://fhub.jimdofree.com/
