Congrats to the Rybka team. They are the true champions, no matter what happens in the WCCC.

Thanks, Gian-Carlo:-).

Good luck with cluster Deep Sjeng, a truly great job that you managed this! A real pity that ICGA is more or less 'punishing' you for this fine achievement by not allowing more than 8 cores in the WCCC. As you rightly pointed out some 8 cores are far more expensive than a cluster, so this is really hard to understand.

Best wishes, Jeroen

I'm sure I was just collateral damage in an attempt to hamper Rybka.

Anyway, move 19 is amazing. It takes Rybka 3 21 minutes on a fast quad to find it. How long did it take your cluster to find it?

I also understand now why you did not want to comment on the opening after our game.

Yes. You & Rybka are pushing computer chess forward. We do not want rules that hold it back. I can get 4 quads cheaper than a skulltrail & I hope to be running Cluster Rybka and Cluster Sjeng in due course!

When you say "Cluster" are you referring to a "multi-core" CPU?

With respect to Sjeng, I thought that program would be considered average compared to the commercial programs?!

If "average" is anything not as strong as Rybka and Naum, then you could call it average. At the CCRL list, Deep Sjeng is number 6, above Shredder, Hiarcs and Deep Junior.

A cluster is several machines connected together via a network. Deep Sjeng can use them together to increase its strength. So if you have 2 quads, Deep Sjeng can use them as if they were an 8 core machine.

But why? I understand that this is the unlimited hardware tournament but still....
After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"
YES! He replied.....

Hi, why not just use racks?

What would be the advantage of clusters over racks?
