I can not give you an answer but the list you showed only shows fairly new chess program written since the year 2000 and which are compatible with Winboard.
For a list of engines written for PC's you would have to go back to the mid 1970's and start counting starting with MicroChess by Peter Jennings. There were hundreds more written in many different languages.

I have about 5000. (But that counts different versions of the same engine)
I guess that there are lot more than that.

Dann,
how can I get at some free ones of your 5000 ?
I need 800 more to complete my stupid goal of 2000 working engines running in one giant tournament under ChessGUI.
Are the things all accessible on your server ?
regards,
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

I have something of a problem there, beause some are private and some are unreleased versions and things of that nature. Some are also commercial engines. So I cannot simply publish my engines folders.

If you can tell me what engines you are missing, I can probably help you in that way. I guess, though, that we will have to look at the engines one at a time, because I will handle this kind of thing cautiously to make sure I am not doing something wrong.

OK, I will simply look through what is accessible on your server.
I don't have to accomplish my goal in one giant leap ;).

Maybe your problem is that you are running an UCI engine as WB.
Winboard cannot use UCI engines without polyglot.
Arena will run Ace as UCI.

your right i used to run in arena

but I get this

The aplication failed to initialize properly (0x000135). Click on OK to terminate the application

maybe I need Directx or Dot.net or Flash or Some other plug in because its a new install might be it.

have you tried ACE from a recent download? all my other engines work, I also tried in chessGUI
