Chess Assistant 9.1 oddity --> crash loading PGN files

Here are the files compressed with bzip2.exe:

Other tools (e.g. SCID, pgn-extract, ChessBase) do not crash when reading these files.

The crash message blames unbalanced parenthesis, but there are definitely no unbalanced parenthesis in these files.

Can someone tell my why Chess Assistant 9.1 is crashing when trying to read these files?

I am trying to update junkbase (I have well over 6 million games now) but lack of progress with these files is hindering me. I really want to get them loaded into CA, since CA's duplicate detection is far better than all the other programs.

I've never tried Chess Assistant, I'm curious as to what it does better than Scid.

And I've never tried SCID, but I will. IMO, the Chess Assistant interface is better designed and more intuitive than ChessBase. Plus version 6 which I have and ChessAssistant Light which is free have built in ICC clients, which is very convenient.

Of course, the commercial data will be of very high quality. Compare it to amateur collections like mine and you will find that there are not nearly so many goof-ups in the data.

Besides that, it does everything better. You can get CA light to try it.
