Originally it was a functional organization. But somewhere along the way, things went badly wrong and we have ended up where we are today. I've given up on them turning things around. The journal is needed, whether it will survive or not is an issue. Sad to watch things decay from Toronto in 1977 where we formed this organization to the state it is in today...

With the new IEEE transactions on computational intelligence and AI in games(http://www.ieee-cis.org/pubs/tciaig/), I feel that the existence of the ICGA Journal serves no purpose anymore. The ICGA journal is indexed nowhere online. Not even DBLP wants it. It is a paper-only journal, circulated to a couple hundred members of the ICGA, most of which don't read it. Any message you post to this forum has more impact than a paper in the ICGA journal.

This would be cool, but if it were for the ICGA, this event would never had happened and what you say would be false.

I also cannot guarantee I can borrow the same or better hardware next year

There is no guarantee that there will be an open tournament next year. ICGA may decide that the only tournament would be WCCC with a Netbook/Atom h/w limit.
