I think (for chess) Q9650@ 4.8GHz is equalant to i7 920 D0 @4.20GHz
For example,i can overclock my QX9650 up to 4.4GHz very stabilly,but just the processor temperature is going a little bit high...as you know here where i live (Antalya) mostly of the year is hot
Btw,i have no patience to see the performance of the new Gulftown 6-core processors,i think they will be launched in Q2 2010.
Imagine ''2x6-core(12 CPU) machine'' what would be -it will fly

Congrats on your 4ghz. I was only able to get 3.8ghz, and that's only after loading into Windows. I made the mistake of getting a cheapo motherboard. Still I'm quite pleased with the performance of the Q9650.
