:P
how about a 3 day poll here to see if there is interest in accepting the challenge?
im not a good poll writer..i always include biased questions unintentionally
if i set up the poll it would look like this
SHOULD WE ACCEPT THE HIARCS CHESS CHALLENGE?
A)Of Course
B) Yes

maybe someone else should do it regards
Steve
How about we just do it. Accept.....people will get into it. Not everything needs a vote (when we know the outcome at least).

Ready for the gallant Hiarcs team now regards

I vote either Ansari, Eelco or Dann as the main member or captain as you call it. Ansari is pretty good at analyzing, and Dann has expertise in engine's evaluation study.

Maybe Bob, Ray or Kenny could help us with the hardware.

just some info, and Nf3 regards.

That's my vote.
Think I would agree to that this time - but who has which side ? ;)

are you saying you think we should use a different voting system made up of only special members ?
or to use the voting system i described earlier ?
anyone of the members you mentioned would make a fine Captain so its up to them to respond if they are interested to Captain the team

if they are willing to commit to come here (as Chris has done)and count votes and post the move then anyone of them would fit the bill perfectly
however their particular area of expertise in Computer Chess really makes no difference in being a Captain in the move voting system i mentioned earlier
the only job of the Captain under that System is to make the official move
his vote for the move to be played does not carry any more weight then any other player but he does have the heavy responsibility to post the move in time or the team will lose by time forfeit
the Team does need an Alternate Captain as well to post the move just in case the Captain cannot be here or is not here to make the move
certainly anyone of these men could serve as the Main or Alternate Captain

you would make a good Captain \Alt Captain too if you can commit to be here

Ok, I have no idea how this works since I've never had a chance to watch forum matches in hiarcs/rybka. Yes, I think group of special members who have expertise could do something to put good fight. Majority vote certainly doesn't work here since a flawed opinion of one person who is popular in the forum, at some point could bias people's view.

If we're playing for fun and not driven by desire to win the game, then I don't think there's any need for special group of experts. I prefer playing for fun.

so you agree then to serve as the Alternate Captain?(assuming no one else comes forward to take on the responsibility of Captain or Alt Captain)
:P

Team taking Shape Regards
