I wouldn't mind. I like these games. I've never played a game of 960 myself, but I know the rules.
We should at least wait for the current game to be over, in any case.
Any interest in a CCC forum vs chess960 engine match ?

Yes let's wait until Steve's game is over, if some of the same people are involved, it is asking too much of people's spare time to be involved in two.
I see 7 Yes votes now

as a suggestion..
perhaps you can post the rules regarding 960 in this or a new thread regarding the game?
i am a bit ashamed to admit i might not know all of the rules particularly when it comes to Castling ..etc etc(if the rules are different then regular chess)
anyway it might serve as a good reference point for other players would might want to take part in the game while it is in progress
Just A Thought Regards

I'd think Danasah is good choice for this. I just voted yes to chess960.Spock wrote:At some point, I wonder if the forum would like to challenge a chess960 engine run by me, something like Tornado or DanaSah perhaps, or even BigLion if the first two are too strong.
Good luck.

I hope you will use ShredderGUI and a HAha engine.
ChessGUI is good only for engine-engine tournaments.
So no hope for DanaSah. And BigLion is too weak.
Is latest Tornado not too strong ? I prefer Tornado Mainz.
Matthias.

My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

Yes I had planned to use Shredder GUI so DanaSah is out. Arena is a possibility I guess but I'd be wary becuase I've never used it for chess960
I'll think about the exact engine - we don't want anything too strong, the forum needs a decent chance of a win. I think BigLion would be interesting actually, remember it will get a very long time to think about each move.
I'll come back to the forum with an engine suggestion in due course. Plenty of time to work out what the options are.

BigLion is indeed stronger at longer time controls and 1 GB HashSpock wrote:Yes I had planned to use Shredder GUI so DanaSah is out. Arena is a possibility I guess but I'd be wary becuase I've never used it for chess960

A test blitz game is always recommended.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that is what I'll use. Should be a great game !Matthias Gemuh wrote: BigLion is indeed stronger at longer time controls and 1 GB Hash.

BigLion is approx 2200 ELO on CCRL 40/40 standatd chess list. Given the difficulty the forum is having against Steve's Tasc R30, about 2300 ELO, I reckon it is exactly the sort of level of engine we should be starting at first time round.

Ponder ON would be fine if you have a powerful cooling systemSpock wrote:Yes, I'm pretty sure that is what I'll use. Should be a great game !Matthias Gemuh wrote: BigLion is indeed stronger at longer time controls and 1 GB Hash.

The engine logfile (created automatically) would be very valuable for me.
