My indirect targets are the pawns on c2 and a2. Too cryptic logic ?
Matthias.
I think that it's important to have a plan against 19.h4 if you want to play 18.....Qc7.
If you're convinced that we're safe on the kingside, then Qc7 is okay.
Perhaps 18.....Qc7; 19.h4, Kh8 is okay.
h4 would play right into our Ra5 plans' hands. If the computer tries to dislodge it we have Rh5 or we can even take the pawn....say b4 for example.
I really like our position at the moment. All our pieces can do many things. The computer seems to be stalling.
18.....Qc7; 19.h4, Ra5; 20.b4, ab; 21.ab, intending b4 could still pose us problems.
My thinking was that the queen placed on e8 and the rook still on a8 would be better for us after the b4 plan.

The main concern I had after 18...Qe7 was the plan for White involving Bd2 intending Bb4 (prefaced by a3 first if necessary).

You can play Qe7/ a3 Rfb8 and if white plays c3, your concern is gone.
Same if Bd2 is played instead of a3.

Black playing a3 allows White to play b4 with impunity. I'm not sure that's good for us?

No, I meant this:
18... Qe7 19. a3 Rfb8 20. c3 and your concern is gone.
(if white plays a3, which is your concern).

Okay. I was talking 18.....Qe7; 19.Bd2. The whole idea being for the White bishop going to b4 with a3 played beforehand to support it if necessary.
Cheers,
Graham.
