I think it looks great. I really like Office 2007's ribbon interface and have implemented it in my own application. For me, the ribbon interface is a welcome addition.

As for Fritz 11 being the engine - could this just be a screenshot of the interface and the engine is not complete? Or is something like version 11.3 which will be version 12?

If it really is shipping with version 11 I would suspect / suggest that Frans Morsch may be no longer programming for ChessBase.

i just dont see the point of making a fritz 12 gui without a fritz 12 engine.there is no way i'd pay for it unless (and then only perhaps) the price very competitively with aquarium.

It does say 11 in the German site link Michael showed.

"The popular PC chess program Fritz version 11 in an exclusive WM-edition on the occasion of the chess WM match between the two present worlds' strongest players Vladimir Kramnik and Vishy Anand in Bonn in November."

It also mentions it in the specification further down. Also included are the repertoires of the two players as books and various videos.
