not sure why we would play e5 after Ng6?
i think f5 would probably be the way to go

Then black has a choice to go for the quiet Nh8-f7 or
Ng6-h4, intending to sacrifice on f5 in case you play g2-g3. Both seem OK for us, but the variation with Bxe5 is a +/- IMO.

Bxe5

Ne5 was a blunder by BigLion. At this point I was hoping to play a5 (which is still OK) but Ne5 gets Bxe5 immediately.

Yes I think you're right. I analysed the position with Shredder 12 before and after that move, and there was a significant movement in the evaluation in white's favour

I was thinking about f4. However since you suggested Bxe5
if it was followed by Bg4 looks to be a very strong position.
Waiting to see what others think of this brilliant move.

In a holding patten.

Gerold.
I will vote for Bxe5.

It doesn't give anything away really, and doesn't influence choice of vote either. The next move is move 20, and as previously discussed I'll give out BL's evaluation after it's move.

When Graham posted his move Bxe5 i think most knew
BL had made a weak move.

Best.

Hi Ray,

if moving a knight to e5 is a comfirmed bad move, capturing it suddenly becomes one of the best options to scrutinize
You should have waited till the forum finishes voting.

Cheers,
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

OK, I won't do it again
Maybe it is not a bad move after all, I used just one engine to briefly take a look after Christopher's comment, other engines may see things differently - although I'm not going to find out - it takes the mystery and intrigue away for me
