My vote Qc3
Is Qc3 just a waiting move, the thing called a "safety" in snooker ?

Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

My vote Qc3
I don't like 21.Qc3, Bd7 with Qc8 to follow. What was your plan against that?

Cheers,
Graham.

My vote is for 21.Bg4 unless somebody can convince me that there's something better.
Then if 21....Bxg4; I think that 22.hg is worth looking at.

If you are afraid of Bxh3 the simple Kh2 defends that 'threat'. Another posiblity is g4. For me black's best piece is the d6 knight that is the one we need to exchange, maybe via knight f5 after g4. Again what does the black bishop in c8 do in this position?

Our white squared bishop is bad, whereas Black's white squared bishop is the stronger of his two.
By swapping off the white squared bishop, we leave Black with a "bad" bishop, simultaneously getting rid of ours.
However, the key is what should we play in the event of 21.Bg4, e6?

the question is...SHOULD we play Bg4 because BL can answer e6?

there are not very many choices now that we played 20.Bxe5
we either play a5 now or play a5 after BL plays e6
the game is now a Queen-side game with our chances lying in eventually picking off a loose pawn or two
i would vote for Bg4 IF AND ONLY IF BL would play Bxg4 and then i would suggest Nxg4..why would we want to be left with doubled g pawns and not bring the N to a great attacking square?

anyway...seems Bg4 has three votes and other then Qc3 no other votes
Qc3 is not a bad move as it finally activates our Queen where it is still watching A5 and could shift to the Kingside if need be

ill go with 21.Qc3 as well

Regards
Steve

I vote for Qc3.

I prefer a5 but no one is voting for it yet.

Best.

Gerold.

P.S.
If a couple votes would come in for a5 i will change my vote
for a5.

I think a5 is a loser against a computer. You can't give him an advantage of a pawn which is also a passer, without getting any counterplay. There is nothing to gain on the queen side. You would have to prepare a5 by Qa3 at least.

I also believe that after Bg4, e6 does no harm. We could just play Qa3 and after exd5 answer exd5.

And yes, Nd2 is passive but Bc7 is passive, too.

One hidden power of black is the pair of bishops which can pop up in the endgame unless we exchange one of them.

So I still keep up my vote for Bg4.
