Re: Fritz 12 keeps on loosing
Hi Fern,
it was not my intention to say that Fritz 12 is bad engine but the scores are showing engine not able to win over some opponents I thought it should be able to defet.
The latest score was against Protector 128.x64.The score was 7 wins for Protector, two wins for Fritz and one draw with the same parameters as on the other games.
Where would than this score place Fritz 12 ?
Maybe I should play some older version of Fritz and see if that engine will have a different score against the same opponents.

Re: Fritz 12 keeps on loosing
Well I tried to use Fritz 10 and again similar result.
Protector 128.x64 -Fritz 10 6.5-3.5 +4 -1 =5.
Now if Fritz 12 can not defeat another engine can than Fritz be better in analysis.
Should one than buy and pay for the engine when another free engine can do maybe a better job.
And than the fact that this new engine Protector has a potential to get even better.

Depending on who you listen to, it's either a Toga derivative or an original engine.
At this stage, I'm treating it as an original engine.
Cheers,
Graham.

I read it's mainly togaII code + bitboard !
So, it should be a lot faster in 64 bits mode

Re: Fritz 12 keeps on loosing
The final match between Protector 128.x64 and this time Fritz 9 +5 -2 =3.
So all 3 Fritz engines lost to a new free chess program that I expect to get even better if the creator of the engine wants to continue with his work.

Bizarre, Graham!Graham Banks wrote:http://www.computerchess.info/tdbb/phpB ... php?id=880
12 days ago, I downloaded a Protector_1_2_8.tar.gz which contained Windows and Linux versions, both 32-bit and 64-bit, dated 04/10/2009.
But that protector_1_2_8_Win32.exe dated 04/10/2009 is not identical to the same-name protector_1_2_8_Win32.exe dated 09/10/2009 extracted from your reference (Protector 1.2.8.7z), which furthermore only contains that Win32 exe.
Any explanation?
