Bxe6 - Swami, Christopher, Steve, Gerold, matthias
Bf3 - Graham

Due to the overwhelming majority for Bxe6, I'm going to accept this as the forum move a few hours ahead of the deadline. Hopefully that won't upset anyone

That is a ponder hit, but as I made that move I got a crash from iechess.dll which is part of the Shredder GUI. BigLion appears to be thinking, but it looks like a problem. I'll have to re-start the GUI to continue

Indeed, Matthias was worried about BigLion, but the thing that folded under the extra-terrestrial time control and extended running was the GUI itself

Seem to be a bug in the Shredder 11 GUI, bizarre. I started from a new board with position 485, made all 24 moves to date manually on the board, and as soon as I made that move the GUI crashed again. Yet, if I set up the position using the FEN string at move 24, and then make the move, all is well, which is what I had to do. Disadvantage is that it shows that move as move 1 not move 25, but I can live with that - the proper move count is on page 1 of the thread

do you perhaps remember the move BL intended to make?
you mentioned it was a ponder hit and you were about to make the move for BL
probably BL would play 25..Bxe6 for which the forums reply would almost definitely be 26.dxe6
otherwise i guess we have to just wait another 12 hours for its reply?

Stalled Regards

Yes it was a ponder hit - and BL is again thinking about the same move and it is 99.9% certain it will make it. So, yes we may as well turn it over to the forum again

OK Ray
i posted the move as 25..Bxe6 in the lead post
i already voted for 26.dxe6 previously
its an obvious recapture for white and i cant imagine anyone voting for anything else so i offered it as a conditional move
