Rybka has never been the frontrunner in sales IMO.

Ah yes, almost everybody has a Ferrari.
Google Trends provides insights into broad search patterns. Please keep in mind that several approximations are used when computing these results.

It's cute, but while I can imagine people googling Ferrari and buying VW, why should the same be true for Rybka and Chessmaster? They cost the same don't they?

Have you ever seen a single Rybka package in a electronics store?

He tried to show that your proof you gave to support your argument was incorrect. He succeeded!

What you bring now is another kind of argumentation, another kind of proof. And i agree with this. Chessmaster has way higher publicity and sales generally than Rybka.

You said that in your earlier post. But why does it matter and what has to do with our case? Because Rybka has much less sales than Chessmaster says what?

After his son's birth they've asked him:
"Is it a boy or girl?"

You might be right about the sales(I think you probably are),but to me the search stats are just what they are.

It was not a proof, it was an evidence. I still think it supports my claim if you assume that popularity => more sales in computer chess, because the prices are around the same. In car sales that part does not hold.
Why did I post it?

Some earlier poster said that this will not harm Rybka sales because very few people will know about the new engine and Rybka is very popular. Maybe he didn't know how popular is Rybka compared to other products, thus I posted this.

I suggest that Rybka is not that popular within general public, and any engine which surpasses Rybka in rating tests will be well known to the people who are Rybka customers. This MAY, in turn, harm Rybka sales.

I'm surprised to see Philippines and Tagalog language there. I never thought my country could be that interested in chess engines.
