Thanks again for another very useful test! I've been considering putting in code to recognize simplification (at least a very simple ratio of material), so this is very timely.

My latest version of Myrddin got 40 positions correct, and 560 points.

My goal is to make Myrddin average 60 correct solutions and 700 points per test suite. Including this new one, Myrddin's only averaging 49 solutions and 618 points -- so still some work to go.

Thanks again!

You're welcome. I hope you enjoy the test suites a great deal. :)

I'm looking forward to Myrddin's progress. I believe recent versions have shown signs of improvement. 618 points out of 1000 average is obviously good.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.

Hi Eelco, I'll see if Bb2 qualifies as alternative solution on par with Bd2.

Few engines that I have tried says Bd2 is ultimate solution. I'll see what Dann has to say on this. I believe he had run Rybka, Naum and Zapchess to see if they all agree in unison after significant amount of time.

This is some interesting analysis, and I will look into it. Since the key idea remains valid (offer of simplification) it may be an excellent alternative. The score also seems similar to the value I have stored for the key move.
