I propose a6. Regarding Bb4, I think that this is suboptimal since after Rc7 Black would have to return with Bd6 to throw out the rook from 7th rank. Better than Bb4 would be Ba3! IMO since it would allow for Rc8 later on while White could not double its rooks on the c file. But I would start with a6, then (after Be2 or Bd3) play Ba3 followed by Rc8. This would also let the Rf6 return into the game after Rxc8 Bxc8.

O.k, regarding Ba3 there might arise problems after 18...a6 19.Be2 Ba3 20.Rc7 Rc8 21.Ra7 (21...Rc2 22.Rxa6 Rxa2?!). So maybe even 18...a6 without 19...Ba3 is possible.

Well we have reached the TC with no clear vote winner
in accordance with the stated rules.. i am now permitted to choose any move for the black side
therefore i choose for the team...
18..Nc6
to which the MDC replies ...
19.Bxc6
:P

Seriously ..i guess we will just have to wait until the tie is broken

On Hold Regards

I think that after a6, White is better off playing Ba4, keeping an eye on the c6 square as a possible entry point. If White is able to infiltrate on the queenside, then we're in trouble. For this reason I don't think that playing a6 serves any useful purpose at present.

Cheers,
Graham.
