I did not intend for the name "doch" to stick. But when I started developing it I had to give it some kind of name and I didn't want to call it "chess"

So doch means (DO)n's (CH)ess which I have always intended to rename but never have.

I guess that would make the pronunciation rhyme with scotch, but it seems more natural to say "dock" and that is how I've been pronouncing it.

So it's doc as in "what's up doc?"

Thanks for your nice engine !

Thanks for the new version, even if the numbering is kinda odd. :P
I hope it does well in my tests; I like Doch.

To make things more confusing we went to a different version scheme!

Seriously, the ??.???? format is what I use internally and I never intended to use that for release versions as it's more difficult to remember.

Hi Anton,

I cross-compiled (Win>Lin) an experimental 32 bit Gcc linux compile.
I did a quick test on an Ubuntu Live cd. Seems to be working ok.
You can download it here > http://www.mediafire.com/?tjkemzctjnn

Thanks Jim,

It appears to be working ok here (Debian unstable)

Im sure you can get at least 10 guys interested from this forum alone. :)

Give us 1-2months and the winners name or personality can be added to your next Doch version as long as the parametrers are easy to understand like Chessmaster, Shredder etc...
Ok, the next version of doch will let end users edit the weights of the positional terms. I provide at least a brief explanation of what the term does.

And then we will have a contest - who can produce the best weights!

Is the 64 bit linux version also available? Heinz van Saanen sent me an email saying it was nowhere to be found. I can send you one if you don't have it.

Hi Don,

Yes it's in there. He must have downloaded from original link, before the Linux compile was added.

Need to find the fairest way for this competition.

First we need intial test results from the new Doch as a base number for the customized settings. Using the same format, engines and time controls.

Perhaps a test suite like noomen suite? Find engines within the ballpark of Doch strength ( say 50 elos stronger then Default Doch) Engines which are strong in all of one of these areas like best tactically, positionally, endgame, unbalanced positions. Pick 4 or 5 engines or else take forever to test :)

One personality per person, have a post dedicated to this in this forum Doch Personality Comp. Or have a email address dedicated to this, where someone neutral can test the settings for themselves and post the ratings.
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
