[d] 8/4pbk1/3b2p1/3p4/1r1N1PB1/1P2P3/2R5/5K2 b
What's wrong with playing Bxf4 here, apart from ending up with opposite coloured bishops?
I don't think that Kf6 is best because White can respond with either Rc6 or Rc8.

I completely ovelooked this and I went for Kf6 because I wanted to play it previously.Graham Banks wrote:[d] 8/4pbk1/3b2p1/3p4/1r1N1PB1/1P2P3/2R5/5K2 b

Bxf4 / Nc6 Re4 (I missed this)/ exf4 Rxf4+ sounds like we win a pawn, Ke2 Rxg4/
EDIT: Bxf4 / Nc6 Re4 (I missed this)/ exf4 Rxf4+ sounds like we win a pawn, Rf2 Rxg4/ Nxe7
EDIT2: Bxf4 / Nc6 Re4 (I missed this)/ exf4 Rxf4+ / Rf2 Rxg4/ Rxf7+! Crap... this answer the next question...
mmmhhh.... why did not the machine play something different?

My vote is for 36.....Bxf4 unless somebody can prove that it's flawed.

Graham, you almost made me change the vote. Please see my post. Unless I missed something, this is not clear.Graham Banks wrote:My vote is for 36.....Bxf4 unless somebody can prove that it's flawed.

I think I found why we can't play Bxf4.michiguel wrote:Graham, you almost made me change the vote. Please see my post. Unless I missed something, this is not clear.Graham Banks wrote:My vote is for 36.....Bxf4 unless somebody can prove that it's flawed.

.......Bxf4; Nc6, Re4; ef, Rxf4+; Rf2, Rxg4; Rxf7+ (or Ne5)
I'll change to 36......Rb6 because I think that either Rc6 or Rc8 could be awkward responses to Kf6.
Rb6 prepares Kf6.

Re: The Third Forum Game
With 8 Hrs left until TC we have....
36..Kf6(Carlos,Matthias,Gerold,Miguel)
36..Rb6(Graham)
36..Kf6 appears to be a shoe-in as the winner and Normally i would lock in the vote now and get the MDC working on its reply
however, as there is some discussion over this move its probably best to wait the full 24 Hrs
If the players want me to close the voting down earlier just let me know
On Hold Regards
Steve
