On-line blitz tourney January

Post by hgm »

I want to schedule the first engine blitz tourney of 2010 on:

Saturday January 9, 3pm EST (21:00 CET)

To connect use the command

winboard -ics -icshost 80.100.28.169 -icshelper timeseal -zp -fcp "ENGINECOMMAND" -fd "ENGINEFOLDER" -autoKibitz

If your engine is UCI, also add the option -fUCI

I'll be at a family thing. Can I log Telepath in at say 10 am and leave it on? I'll not be able to send the tell mamer join command at 3.
I might be back before it is over.

This should be no problem, as long as the connection is not interrupted. There are commands for a TD to join engines remotely. I will look up in advance how to do it.

The ICS should be on-line permanently. There is a time-out period of 10 hours, though. I am not sure which time zone you are in. But 10am is probably well within this 10-hour margin. If not, I should start game against it somewhere during the day.

Argh!

I have to go to a leaving party for a work colleague tonight!

Can I log on earlier, and leave Jabba connected?

I would be logging on about 1900

Thanks

Richard

PS Or, as Michael wrote, I can add a Zippy password and send you that

I'm planning to bring Daydreamer. I've never run engine matches on ICS before though, so if someone is willing to play a blitz test game before the tournament so I can figure out what I'm doing and make sure everything's working ok, I'd appreciate it.

I brought Joker already on-line, for target practice.

It is running on the other core of the machine where the "Knightmate Challenge 2010" tourney is playing. I guess I will have to interrupt that tourney when I also want to play micro-Max tonight. Currently it is test games anyway (for the updated Lime KM version); I hope these will be done with when the on-line tourney starts. Then I can start the main event of the Knightmate Challenge afterwards.

I am in the EST TZ. I'll use ChessPartner 6.0 as the interface. It will connect and login automatically if there is a disconnect. You would have
to use a admin command to get it to rejoin the tournament. When others match it, it will play. The only problem is if another is doing the
same thing. Of course, if they use Winboard/Xboard and send you a zippy password there is no problem.

I must admit: the zippy password is a really neat feature!
