Rybka 3 vs Toby-Tal , Game 1

Post by WuShock »

Got the disk today and am playing some 'fun' games , just to watch. Tomorrow I will start an automated test. ( if I can figure it all out )

Game 1 was a draw with Rybka 3 playing white.
i-7 quad @ 3.75 GHz , single core each , Game/15 mins , ponder off , no tablebases , OB's truncated to 4 moves , Rybka using Rybka 3 ctg , and Toby using MyBook 19 ctg....... Also , I clicked off the Hyper-Tal feature....

From Rybka's perspective :

A nice game....thanks Tom....
I am eagerly waiting for any new engine to knock out Rybka and drag it to the lower sections of the rating lists....I predicted that 3-4 months ago and it's happening....it's going to be even more interesting in the upcoming 6 months :D

I think most of us would like to see competition as the top, but as long as it comes from an engine whose author has a real name and as long as it's not a clone.
Looking forward to hearing more about Toby-Tal. Is it credited with an author?

Cheers,
Graham.

Well,as far as I am informed Graham, only the sales man is famous at this stage,we're yet to be introduced to the author of the program....

From what I have seen of Toby Chess a lot of their products are pdf scans of what I hope are public domain books and such.

For instance they have a DVD that has the entire Endgame Enyclopedia and Averbahk's monumental Endgame work's as well. Are they public domain? I don't know. I haven't purchased them because I am not sure.

I say this not to cast any doubts on Toby-Tal but only to show what that website is selling. I look forward to having an attack crazy engine.
