Hi Sam,

Nope the dog part is about someone else :)

===============================================

Didn't I answer the part abot the time issue ? I forwarded it to Martin. No answer yet but he is busy.

For the other issue I still didn't find out why it takes both moves back for you (black and white).

I do this:
  • Start Arena
    Press EDIT
    Move 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6
Press the arrow to the left to take back one move beside the board, last black move is taken back (even with analyze pressed)
You use Arena 2.0.1 ?

I might have an idea what the issue is. Sometimes the arrow key does not do anything, in which case I click on the back button with the mouse. This takes back 2 moves. When the arrow key does work I use that, and it does take back only 1 move. I am not sure what situations the arrow key is active or inactive in. Oddly enough, I have just been fiddling around with it and if I push it a bunch of times in a row it works. Here is an example sequence:

1. File New
2. Select Edit (I am in Mix 1 view)
3. select moves e4 e5 d4 exd
4. press back arrow...nothing happens on the board, but the e5d4 in the last move box turns to e5d.
5. press back arrow again...nothing happens on the board, but the e5d turns to e5
6. press back arrow again..nothing happens on board, e5 turns to e in the last move box.
7. again, e goes to blank move
8. back arrow again...it actually takes back a move!
9. subsequent back arrows work as expected.

Hi Sam,

You press the back arrow (to the left) on the keyboard, right ? And not the arrow to the left beside the board with the mouse ? Sometimes you need to press it twice or even trice till it gets activated somehow but still it takes back unique halfmoves thereafter ! I think this is already known to Martin too.

P.S. Now imagine how ChessBase fanboys would react if it was about ChessBase . :D

Right...ok now that I know if I press it enough times it will start working I will just do that. I did not realize it until I started trying to report what was happening exactly to you, but now that I know its a fine work-around.

p.s. if it was chessbase, I would be trying to get them to be more compatible with my mac mouse button, which acts funny when I boot in windows x64 mode using the chessbase product but seems to work fine on everything else. I have enough complaints for everyone :). Its more fun when you think your complaints might be addressed though...

Hi Slobo and all,
I withdraw from my nomination only because the lack of time....my work at the hospital,my studies,my computer chess activities and my family....I've always hoped that the day is 72 hours instead of 24
Accept my regards,

1. Jeremy Bernstein
2. Damir Desevac and
3. Clare Marie Benedicto

I've been expecting until the last moment that
- Swaminathan
- Alexander Schmidt
- Dr. Wael Deeb
accept their nominations. So far, they did not accept it, and we cannot wait anymore. Now, I would ask them to decline their nominations, and withdraw from the electoral process, so that our team has more chances to win.

Slobo
I fully agree.
I have just accepted my nomination, but nobody should vote for me if any of the teams above is available.

Matthias.
I believe you have better chance of getting elected than them so why would you rather that members vote for them?

You have my vote mainly for offering that unique feature of counting partial credit moves in ChessGUI ;-)
Our team should decide between two options:

a) run with 4 candidates
b) run only with 3 candidadtes, and more chances to elect all of them.

I prefer the second option, and if our supporters agree with this strategy, I propose the following team:

1. Matthias Gemuh
2. Jeremy Bernstein
3. Clare Marie Benedicto

Why not Swami?

I like Swami as well, but yesterday, I sent him a PM:

slobo wrote:
Swami, will you accept your nomination?

He answered:
I will see.. would you see what Hyatt thinks on this? It's hard to team up with people like (...)

In such a situation I invated Damir and Clare to complete our team with Jeremy. Damir wisely renounced, favouring Matthias.

But I did not exchage PM with Matthias yesterday, considering his
D in the nomination list. With Swami I excganged PM and he was hesitant.

Well. we could run with all four candidadte, but this way we could lose one or, who knows, perhaps two places. We'll have more chances if we concentrate our votes on only three persons.

I think the four should confer and decide...as Matthias pointed out, it is better to run with less candidates to improve the number of votes distribution.

Hi,

The main thing, that the candidates elected are not puritanical, hypocritical, reactionary !

The rest, it's a lot of waffle !

Slobo,
such a post is very destructive for the elections.
Matthias.
My engine was quite strong till I added knowledge to it.

I think you should talk in private with the other candidates and decide. So we all know where things stand.
