Hi Don
Will the personalities submitted to you for the personality challenge be made available to the chess public for testing? I sure hope so. I've tried to create a few, but none stronger than the default yet.

Re: Komodo personalities?
While the idea of refining the tuning to improve its overall performance is attractive, I personally would find it more interesting to be able to find very different personalities without a significant loss in strength. In other words, have it play like Tal or Karpov, but not have it become an idiot as a result.David Dahlem wrote:Hi Don

My 2 cents.

I think I said something almost exactly like that in one of my forum posts or perhaps in the README for the program.Albert Silver wrote:While the idea of refining the tuning to improve its overall performance is attractive, I personally would find it more interesting to be able to find very different personalities without a significant loss in strength. That is what my wish is too.

Re: Komodo personalities?
Thanks Don
There were hundreds of personalities created for the Chessmaster engines (The King), and the settings were posted and shared by the creators, resulting in much testing and many personality tourneys. My wish is the same thing happens with Komodo personalities. After all, Komodo is much stronger than any of The King engines.
I'm currently trying to develop at least one good personality setting. If i succeed, i'll post the settings.

Re: Komodo personalities?
How does one enable them? I tried playing around with it now in CB or Fritz, but the evals and lines showed my personality wasnt being used.David Dahlem wrote:Hi Don

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I kept just putting the name of the file, instead of the full path name. Might I suggest using the UCI to allow direct manipulation and then saving of settings, instead of a separate text file?

I tried that once but some interfaces are limited and do not allow but a few settings. I think Fritz is the one Larry had trouble with - if it doesn't fit on a full screen you are dead.Albert Silver wrote:How does one enable them? I really like it except for my name in the logo. I'm flattered, but I think it would be nicer without the name.David Dahlem wrote:Here is a new logo i made for Komodo, perhaps someone will like it as much as i do.![]()

Edit: How do i get the image to display?
There is an "Img" button but I've never used it and I haven't tried to figure out how it works. Perhaps you can specify a link there?
