If i want to discuss say robolito and its strength, say i ran some test games, does that belong in a certain place? Is there a rule that clones can't be discussed in the main forum now? Or is it only involve if we think its an illegal copy? And again i'm not totally sure that's been proven with robolito (not that i'm entering that debate or suggesting that there is not a likely answer to that either way). If robolito was known to be a clone but was a legal copy or derivation would that make a difference? Can links to latest engine downloads be posted or asked for such as robolito, or must the authenticity of the engine be guaranteed first?
So far Vasik Rajlich has not shown much interest in taking action, apart from not allowing open discussions that involve the Rybka clones in "his" Rybka forum. That does not preclude that he still might take action if there were new developments. That potentially includes legal action. In that case anything that gets posted in the new forum might potentially be used in evidence, and a ruling might make a lot of material there of "questionable legal status" as the original charter puts it. At least that is how I see it, the new forum does not mean the Rybka clones are in the clear or that they are condoned by the owners and operators of this forum, TalkChess.com. So I would think it is also better if the new sub-forum remains private. My personal opinion.

I'm sorry if some of our members or former moderators, in casu Robert Hyatt, think the moderation of the last few days is not in line with the previous policies but that is up to the new moderators. They are only four days in office. I don't know if that is also his view on the new subforum. I do think a lot of people welcome the new forum, I'm not sure how many like to read everything that is posted there.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first
place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you
are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
