supposedly shirov accepted the draw with 2 seconds on his clock, btw. he presumably had about a minute to find the move with intense pressure. a great shame he missed it.

In general, Shirov has a risky style and will win spectacularly some games and of course will fall short in some. He does have a very interesting style with a lot of imagination and on a given day can defeat any GM on earth. He was one move from sharing the lead in this tournament and another move from being outright first. He did get some good breaks against some other players though, so it probably evens out.
