CCT 12: Shredder by Stefan Meyer Kahlen has entered
I was kicked out of Chapters because I moved all the Bibles to the fiction section.

Great News1
Looks like you got a few of the Flags wrong on the participants page. You have Sjeng as British - should be Belgian. You also have Komodo as British - Is don British?

Both Sjeng and Komodo stated they were "UK" on their registration form.Harvey Williamson wrote:Great News1

This is probably due to the registration form, here is the list of questions and what I entered for Komodo:
However, if you make a change to the order of questions you get a different answer:Full name: Gary Belton
Country of Origin: UK
FICS Handle: GaryBelton
Requested Handle: Komodo
Engine name: Komodo
Programmer: Don Dailey and GM Larry Kaufman
Hardware: Intel Q6600 @ 3.6
Software: Windows 7 + Winboard + Polyglot + Komodo
Variant supported: Chess
Manual or Automatic operation: Automatic
Login times: Varied due to geological location
Estimated rating: (Rating based on CCRL or other known list) 3000
Main time control and variant: Chess only.
Reason for having a computer account: To participate in the CCT chess events, and to test the engine with interface to eliminate problems during such events.

Good to see Shredder in here!
No Stockfish yet?
Could somebody offer to operate for the Stockfish? I don't have more updated hardware. I will ask Sherif Khater and see if he'd be available.

An operator isn't enough -- one of the authors have to be present, too. The rules for operators have been made more strict in this edition of the CCT. From the tournament rules:swami wrote:Good to see Shredder in here!

I definitely don't want to be there, and although I haven't asked, I guess that Joona and Marco feel the same way. It's therefore highly unlikely that Stockfish will participate.2a. Operators will only be allowed under the following conditions:
2a1. The author must be online during the tournament to participate in discussions in channel 64, and in the event there is an issue with their program they can provide real time support to their operator.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm curious, what is it about the tournament that puts you off? And why would your fellow authors feel the same way?I definitely don't want to be there, and although I haven't asked, I guess that Joona and Marco feel the same way. Re: CCT 12: Shredder by Stefan Meyer Kahlen has entered
There's nothing that puts me off, really -- I just don't care enough about online tournaments to want to spend many hours watching and operating. I am not very attracted to the competitive side of computer chess; tournaments to me are mostly social events. And from a social point of view, big online tournaments are just dull. Will Singleton wrote:I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm curious, what is it about the tournament that puts you off?I definitely don't want to be there, and although I haven't asked, I guess that Joona and Marco feel the same way. Don't get me wrong: I think the CCT is an event of great importance to the community, and Peter does a tremendous job in organizing. It's just not for me.
I think they are generally less interested in tournaments than I am.And why would your fellow authors feel the same way?

Seeing Tord's append below I am checking with Don to see if he can be online for CCT12. I'm not sure why I didn't notice this new rule of the programmer needing to be online, does that mean that Sjeng cannot play? I guess GCP could login to FICS from the slopes ... ?
