Anyone tried using the chessbase Silver Openings Suite for matches?

the author is a poster to this site, & in fact debuted it here, so yes. :)

it seems to be a very well put together suite & it's my preferred one atm, though i only sporadically run eng-eng matches.

Yes, I got it from this very forum, of course, and I use it very heavily. I prefer to watch engines play as much of the game as possible computationally while I study each engine's analysis and PV, but starting matches from the initial position rarely produces good chess. The Silver suite is perfect as a springboard for dynamic, interesting games that reveal a lot about what different engines like and don't like. The other method I use is using polyglot opening books but capped at a max of 6-8 moves. This is ok, but the results are not as interesting as the carefully selected positions in the suite.

I'm glad to see this mentioned, because I've been using the Silver suite so much and this is a good place to give a THANK YOU to the author, should he happen to see this thread. The gambit suite is also great.

actually i have it all sorted out now. thanks anyway. it was just like installing/loading an opening book basically.
