just saw this on playchess -- ZM II blows the HIARCS beta out of the water by giving it a heavy dose of its own medicine -- an early, uncompromising, overwhelming KS attack.

game is essentially over by move 20. pretty amazing given the difference in age & the fact that HIARCS was probably running on at least equivalent h/w.

interesting -- R3 human hasn't found it in 45 minutes of octal analysis (granted, Nf5 also wins). meanwhile on my quad it popped up in IDeA in a couple minutes & was the preferred move a couple mins later. really diggin the new aquarium.

sorry, mistake - the diagram is post-move. the white pawn should be on g5 for tests.

Re: gorgeous LTC computer game + test positions
I think the critical position was here (although black is still struggling)
[d]r1q2rk1/3bb1p1/p2ppBp1/8/2p1N2P/P4N2/1PP1QP2/2KR3R b - - 0 21
Here Hiarcs took with the pawn which seems the wrong plan as it makes a future h5 extremely dangerous. Rybka 3 prefers to take with bishop and give up a center pawn for what seems to give much better chances for a draw.

Re: gorgeous LTC computer game + test positions
interesting, didn't even both to check if there were saving chances after move 20. from my brief analysis msot critical was HIARCS response to g6. (rybka seemed to think fxe was much better, but again, this was just a couple minutes of IA)
i may do an IDeA study, it is difficult to believe for a human, at least for me, that black is not simply lost after g6.
