Great Graham, I didn't remember that it was 0.70 though. Good to be back!

Looking at the engine scores, Deep Fritz was totally blind to the problem for several steps, though Stockfish knew it had the upper hand.

I am not sure that game is very valid, seems to be a dubious
opening if you ask me. But fun, oh yeah! It might get filtrated
out of the CCRL database when I upload it for the rating list,
I am not sure however since I think I can remember that both
engines have to have a evaluation out of book of less than one
half pawn; in this case DF 12 is almost at zero but on the other
hand Stockfish is claiming over a pawn advantage out of book.
The book line looks OK to me. The position out of book looks roughly equal, but Fritz's first move out of book (9. a4, with a score of +0.07) is a blunder. After (for instance) 9. Be2, white would have had no problems.

Of course, 10. Bxd8?? is a far worse blunder. It's strange that a program as strong as Fritz misses such tactics at a time control like this.

Okay nice, I haven't had the time to analyze the game but it sure looks extremely "crushing".

I agree, people say Fritz has become less and less tactical ever
since the infamous "10.1" version. Perhaps they are right. :D

Anyway, impressive performance by Stockfish so far.
I must congratulate you and your team for this achievement.

Edit: Also, I must ask this. After currently having played 85 games,
Stockfish has 4 losses (1 to Rybka, 2 to Naum and 1 to Sjeng).
Do you guys often play through games like these to see where/how
Stockfish went wrong? Is there anything to be learned from single
losses like these?

Several impressive games by Stockfish.

Stockfish-Deep Sjeng: Nice q-side attack starting with N3a4 here (Stockfish had a big eval jump as of this move):

[d] r1r2nk1/1p1b1pbp/p4np1/P1Np2q1/1P1Pp3/B1N1P3/Q3BPPP/RR4K1 w - -

also an interesting endgame in Stockfish-Deep Fritz, where Stockfish also saw a win ahead of its opponent. This is one key position (Kg2 wins):

[d] 8/8/5R2/3k1p1r/5P2/4P1K1/8/8 w - -
