Now, as HIARCS 13.1(a) is available since a week on the Mac, are there any news/tests/games about its playing strength and improvements?
All the best,
Max

I haven't had a chance to buy it yet, but will in the next couple of weeks. I can test it against Shredder 12 and a few other engines when I do.Max wrote:Now, as HIARCS 13.1(a) is available since a week on the Mac, are there any news/tests/games about its playing strength and improvements?

Bought it, not had as much time to test it as I would have liked. The GUI is limited so I couldn't do the tests I wanted to do.
My initial impression is that there is some improvement in the engine, and on top of that a big specialist book.

I imagine whenever they release the PC version of the engine you'll see more information posted. OS X users represent a pretty small percentage of overall computer chess users.Max wrote:Now, as HIARCS 13.1(a) is available since a week on the Mac, are there any news/tests/games about its playing strength and improvements?

I test HIARCS 13.1a (it has already had one update) to be on par with Stockfish 1.6.3 at blitz time controls (12.1 scored 35%, 13.1 scores 49%). They claim that HIARCS 13.1 beats 12.1 about 65% of the time.
The book is bigger, and is exposed via MultiPV in a special "Book Monitor" mode. The book has been especially effective after Robbolito and Rybka232 get out of their book (performance.bin).

Hi,
wow, what a performance. Deep Fritz 12 perhaps Shredder 12 playing strength could be possible.
Hope that Hiarcs 13 hold his interesting playing style.
Thanks for the information!
Best

Gee, that's gotta be +100-150ish elo to 12.1. Shredder 12 or DF12 level now, I guess.
