I am using Shredder Classic 3 and you can only specify hours, minutes and increment there. No seconds...

lol :D
Shredder 12 GUI (which I think is Shredder Classic 4) has seconds, I think.

Maybe WinBoard or ChessGUI then.

Peter
I will try Winboard then, thanks. :)

Are there some results already? :)

Hi,
40/1 seems to run well in my tests, but I can imagine 40/30'' or even less does not.

And don't even bother with Arena for fast games, it makes any engine look like it has bad time management :P.

Peter
maybe its true ? Did you try switching on the UCI Filter ? This helps for most engines. If not there is something wrong with them as decent engines don't have any trouble at fast time controls. Arena can't and won't fix it seperatly for each and every engine.

Arena is broken at fast time controls. This is a fact.

It doesn't account for the delay introduced by Arena itself so that the engine thinks it has more time then what actually has.

This has been posted several times by several people here on the forum, someone (read Ilary) has even suggest you the fix.

I can understand the fix is very cumbersome and/or out of your technically skills but this doesn't yield to act as if the problem does not exsist or, even, if the problem is in the engine.

Hello,

I forwarded the "yelling" in the forum to Martin. Only 2 persons informed us about the problem by mail (the usual way to do it) and Martin was informed about it.

As I said for some engines it helps using the UCI filter. For the rest you will need to wait.

What is fast ? 0'+1" 1'+1" ?
Absolutely all engines ?

[] Yes
[] No

Less than 30s per game in total.
There is nothing absolute that is man made...

<any time> + 0"

When there is no time increment but absolute time and we are very near time control (very few seconds left) then problems start ;-)

Even with increment the problem exists. Easy way to test it. Put 10''+0.2'' TC and watch debug info when total time drops below 0.2''. Suddenly wtime becomes smaller than winc, even though wtime in previous move was positive, which is just ludicrous.
