Of course. My mistake. How could I not realize that 10 games plus 20 games equals 150 games which in turn equates to thousands of games. You got me.

For me, Test 1 (30 games) plus Test 2 (120 games) equals 150 games. But I accept that your addition gives you a different result. No problem.

Actually, I did miscount for Firebird, it was only 20 games. DR4 played 30 games against Houdini, but only 20 against FB in your test. 20 games or 30 seem a very small amount to be making blanket judgments on tuning and strength.

In my suite (100 games), while testing time management settings, I had a 1+0 match between FB and DR4 start with 68% in favor of DR4 after the first 50 games. However, the next 50 games, it actually lost by 1%, so that the final result was only 56%, which was a perfectly usual result.

As to Houdini, it bears mentioning I have tested it and it has lost all its matches, albeit not by any large scores, consistently better than FB.

I hope the results for Fire will be very different with Robbo or TripleBases.

Not enough games yet, but I have no doubt that Houdini is today the best engine with one or two cores. This result against DR4 is simply impressive, giving it the huge advantage of double number of cores used.

In my ongoing tournament on 2 core at 5'5" time control Houdini have beaten DR4 4 times out of 7 games played so far. But total number of points they get is very close. On the other hand my tourney has a surprise leader out of 215/360 games. It's Ivanhoe t63mini10. Will post results and games when it's done.

Just a question btw, could Houdini and Ivanhoe Mini's strength be coming from them not having MV yet? Just a thought...

The difference in strength would be explainable if you have multi-variations turned on for one engine and not for the others. If you have it turned off for all engines, then it is no explanation (unless there is a bug in implementation causing bad behavior).
