12 games into the last half of the Final Four and it's a nail-biter. Finally a close match, something that's been lacking lately. Current score: Rybka 6.5, Stockfish 5.5.

Now 20 games into the match, and Stockfish has grabbed the lead 11.0-9.0 over Rybka.

After 27 games, the match is tied 13.5-13.5! Will this be our first OT is quite some time?

After regulation, the Rybka vs. Stockfish match was tied 15-15, so I held a 2-game OT at G/30 time controls, and the winner is....(DRUMROLL)...

Stockfish! 1.5-0.5

So the finals are set for Ippolit vs. Stockfish. It's hard to believe it's finally come down to this. 62 out of the 64 original engines have been eliminated.

Any predictions on the outcome and the score?

The FINAL will be best of 40 games, BTW.

Great tournament. My prediction is Ippolit by 55% or 22-18

And the WINNER IS... (BIG DRUMROLL!)...

IPPOLIT

Final Score 20.5-12.5. Specifically, +13-5=15.

Stockfish was the only engine in the entire tournament to win games against the mighty IPPOLIT engine. Congratulations to IPPOLIT.

And now, onto the DAVID vs. GOLIATH matchup I promised, matching the winner of this tournament of free engines against the best commercial engine, which as of the beginning of this tournament was Rybka 3.

This match will be best of 50. Any predictions?

After ten games, Rybka 3 leads IPPOLIT 5.5-4.5. This match is going to be tight. IPPOLIT may have finally met his match.

After 32 games IPPOLIT has taken a 18.0-14.0 lead, specifically +10-6=16.

IPPOLIT now leads 23.5-17.5, specifically +14-8=19. Two more wins or four more draws will secure the victory, barring some miraculous comeback from Rybka 3. I'm curious as to whether this win percentage from IPPOLIT vs. Rybka 3 is similar in matches with short time controls.
