I disagree for the reason that in case of three disparate choices until now there might have been noise but still there was a chance that two mods reveiled if one sindular might have run amok. This however is more unlikely if you have three buddies with a group dynamical fightless dictatorship byy one or two leader figures. The step to oppose is much more difficult in such a small family group. Even if it worked the question is open if alternative directions in a debate get their attention. I fear that then e.g. anons with hipo could get their paradise... Was all that thought through?Sam Hull wrote: I doubt any particular outcome could be worse than some of the disasters we have had here as a result of past elections.

I do not see why the 'younger' posters have to be disqualified they are not worse.

If we follow some guy's mindset,
this complicated poll of yours
won't be understood by members ?
Only a "Yes" or "No" ????

Re: July moderator elections - new format
With the change in voter qualifications and the shorter voting time(4 days from 7 days) i am guesstimating that there will be about 100 Members voting at the end of the day in this election
there are 70 who have voted so far(as i write)
previous vote totals for some prior CCC elections:
8/2007-168
11/2007-159
5/2008-137
11/2008-137
6/2009-146
1/2010-197
should we have a standard election(7 days) following this vote i would guesstimate about 125 voting in total
Survey Sez Regards

I am very interested to see how this poll turns out. There was lots of discussion about extending the nomination period, emailing all forum members etc.. that was all ignored. I am pretty sure you will get elected the margin is very difficult to predict.Steve B wrote:With the change in voter qualifications and the shorter voting time(4 days from 7 days) i am guesstimating that there will be about 100 Members voting at the end of the day in this election

well since we are pontificating here
i am guessing we will probably lose
there are 3 main interest groups that will be voting against us
in descending order:
1)Members who would have voted for a team against linkeage had a team been offered to them
2)members against the idea of team candidates
3) certain members from OPEN voting against us in an effort to portray or fix the CCC as the CLOSED Forum (dont allow links) which they feel would justify their very existence as a forum
(these would be from the more extreme members From OPEN and not the general type of work-a-day member)
will be interesting

Re: July moderator elections - new format
Personally I think the one team in the running is a good one, but having one choice will make a lot of people unhappy, I expect.
Why there was no vote or even poll held regarding the new election format, before it was put into effect, I can't fathom. I certainly had doubts about the possibility of getting multiple teams organized on short notice.
Even assuming the current slate wins, I'd like to a see a re-examination of the election format and the possibility of reverting it to individuals vs teams.

Totally agree Jon it was rushed through and concerns expressed were ignored. I say that as someone who is not against the team concept.jdart wrote:Personally I think the one team in the running is a good one, but having one choice will make a lot of people unhappy, I expect.
