I will set this up again and see if R 2.2 fines it again.

Do you agree?

How does your version of Toga II and Stockfish do?

I will try to see if I can get Houdini to work on it. 8-)
Komodo 1.0 sees this one in about 20.3 minutes. Depth 25. I am trying komodo 1.2 now.

R 2.2 w32 found it right off and moved within 5 sec. at depth 18.

Komodo 1.2 does not see it, even after 35 ply and several hours.

Houdini 1.03a finds the winning move in 14 seconds. Funny how some engines can not see certain solutions, yet play very strong chess!

Hi Jack!

I would have said it is probably very deep, but it seems from the post above that Houdini can find it quickly, 104 million nodes that would maybe be somewhere around three minutes on my machine. So that's not bad. Rainbow Serpent only sees it at very big depths, comparably to Rybka perhaps?

I can't check any of the newer Rybka's 3 or 4 but I do have the free Rybka 2.32a from the Peshk@ application by ChessOK installed. Maybe I'll try that later.

I first had to do something about that bug that caused Rainbow Serpent to see illusionist things in your other study, hope I have that provisionally fixed a bit now, in build 068. It is some trial and error what I'm doing at the moment, not too much appetite for all that real testing that would be necessary, and not on the old Athlon anyway, there it would not make much sense to run tournaments or do much long time control testing. Don't know how Houdini finds it fast here and if it is just that program that can do it.

Eelco
