What about Houdini ? I can see in your forum that it has been intensively tested:

http://cegt.foren-city.de/topic,488,-houdini-1-03a.html

Why isn't it appearing in your list ?

Are you bound by this conspiracy of censorship ?

So what are you going to do ? delete the forum posts ? In any case, who cares for CEGT anymore, as the only true list nowadays is IPON.

Agreed. By why only 100 clones?

My feeling is this clone business is starting to get a little silly. I mean what's to stop someone taking the ippolit source, tweaking it in 50 different ways, then releasing 50 different, "new" engines with a bunch of funky names?

Alphaman 1.0
Treedude 3.4
Sharpdrink X 4.1
Lightbulb
Brainglass
Teadrinker v7
Airjuice
..

In fact you could probably automate it. Ippolit with some random tweak to its eval, generate a random name, and there you go.. a new engine.. wow (or not). No longer 50 "new" engines, but 500, 5000, 500000 whatever.

And this would just pollute the world of computer chess to a bad degree.

Don't get me wrong the CEGT guys (and other rating list folk) do a brilliant job. But the world of the clones is just plain weird, and kind of out of control imho

Hi Tom,

but it's more interesting as to test the same engine with 2, 4, 6 cores and to play thousands of such games.

Thanks Engin and Tom!

CEGT crew has had a poll and most members voted not to test Ippo and co. for the lists.
As every tester can test the engine he likes - we have private tests of these engines - but we do not list them. I think there is the same decision in CCRL Group.

best wishes

You can no longer ignore the – by far - best engine of the world.
Everybody knows Houdini 1.5 is the best chess engine around and a lot of professional and amateur chessplayers are going to use it and take benefit of it.
You are also denying the incredible effort and significant programming skills of Robert Houdart and behave hypocritic, by using Houdini for testing while not publishing the results.
Others like Ingo Bauer, Frank Quisinsky, Sedat Canbaz have overcome their scepsis, but you still behave as real CCC Taliban.
It is a disgrace. The least you could do is reconsider your "Ippo and co" judgement and choose this unique engine to test.

Hi Bram,

only the point that Robert Houdert wrote "all is from myself" different other things in Open Chess Forum is a red card for the work "our" programmers do for "us" so many years.

Which such things I have big problems.

The second point is that own things should be add in Houdini. Here Robert give us a proof that he have knowledge from programming and creates with the start sources he used a very strong chess program. This was a clear proof for myself to his chess programming ability.

For my ratinglist is point 1 and point 2 not very important. Because Houdini is a strong computer chess engine and have to fight vs. the others.

Yes, same with CCRL too.

Cheers,
